Scott's Charity Car Show Raises $20k for DeWitt County 4-H Fair Association

More than 250 vehicles were on display in Clinton Sunday, Sept. 27 as part of Scott’s 20 th Annual Charity Car Show, raising $20,074 for the DeWitt County 4-H Fair Association. The show featured car and truck classes, as well as miscellaneous, Jeep, Corvette and Street Rod classes. The show is sponsored by Baum Chevrolet Buick of Clinton. Johnnie & Michelle Crawford of Springfield earned Best in Show for their 1931 Ford Model A Coupe. Participants’ Choice was awarded to Paul Miller of Lexington for his 1961 Chevrolet Impala. Though the cars were a key attraction, the event also featured a car and freezer/meat raffle, as well as a 50/50 drawing. Sarah Harrington of Monticello took home the top raffle prize, a vintage 1959 Nash Metropolitan car. Winner of the second-place prize, a Whirlpool freezer with meat bundle, was Deb Ertl of Clinton. The Baum Chevrolet Buick team selected the DeWitt County 4-H Fair Association as this year’s beneficiary. The fair association is raising funds to build a covered awning for the horse arena at the 4-H Fairgrounds in Clinton. The covering will allow the DeWitt, Macon & Piatt 4-H fair and other regional youth activities to continue in inclement weather, as well as house the expanding rabbit and poultry exhibits during the fair. Outside of the fair, the awning will cover the enlarged show space used for youth livestock and horse shows throughout the spring, summer and fall, which draw into Clinton as many as 300 exhibitors per show. In addition to the 4-H Fair Association volunteers, the event was staffed by dealership employees and their families. More photos of the car show, including photos of all finalists in each division, can be found at the Baum Chevy Buick Facebook page. Held at Baum Chevrolet Buick in Clinton, the annual event has become a favorite tradition for car enthusiasts and families alike. More than 250 vehicles participated last year, and we expect another outstanding turnout in 2026! Every Registration Helps Local 4-H Youth This year's Scott's Charity Car Show will benefit the DeWitt County 4-H Fair Association's arena covering project, helping provide improved facilities for local youth, agriculture, and community events. The planned 80-foot by 160-foot covered arena will: Protect poultry and rabbit exhibits during the annual fair. Provide a covered riding arena for horse shows. Expand opportunities for 4-H members and youth organizations throughout the year. Improve the fairgrounds for future generations. The DeWitt County 4-H Fair Association maintains the fairgrounds at 7564 Business 51 in Clinton, home to the annual DeWitt, Macon & Piatt County 4-H Fair and numerous livestock and horse shows. The project has been a goal of the fair board since the early 2000s and carries special significance for the Baum family. Stephen Baum was volunteering in the arena that will soon be covered when he unexpectedly passed away in 2003.
